one question - i have seen another rice cooker that says they are solid stainless steel and not coated stainless steel - mine looks stainless steel but i don't know if it is solid.

i got the stainless steel version of this rice cooker at sams for about the same price.
i did make the mistake of cooking carrots and leaving them in too long, which stained the tray a little, but it's only a minor cosmetic problem.
12 cups instead of 8 and lastly cup in stainless as anyway its not dishwasher safe (may be i am asking more for $ :) )

recent data i reviewed did not look good about these non-stick coatings - so i wish i could get a stainless steel insert for it.
the only things i would change are that i wouldn't use white for the bowls because when i use paprika and saffron in my rice it stains (the old versions were clear and much easier to clean).
it's not recommended to use beer, red wine, oil, extracts, or fruit juices in the reservoir, as they might stain (one of my complaints is that the plastic discolors very easily).
when i recived my zojirushi ns-tgc10 micom 5-1/2-cup rice cooker and warmer in stainles steel it was like night and day between zoujirushi and my old rice cooker.
i got the stainless finish because it matches my other appliances, but i'm sure the cooking functionality of the other models is identical.
if you do not you will quickly get a rust colour stain on the top of your cooker.

the advertised "titanium coated non-stick cook pot" convinced me this was going to be the closest i would get to stainless steel.
