At times I tried to lift the tray to stir the rice to avoid the burning, and the steam will burn you, assuming you don't burn your fingers on the pot itself. But what made me decide NEVER to buy Oster products again? Silly me put the little receptacle that catches the condensation as you open the lid into the dishwasher. from Target.com It would not turn on. I will not monetarily support Oster anymore in their rice cookers, and I will read reviews for their other products before I buy from them again. Also, this does not shut completely off when the rice is ready, so it will continue to burn the rice long after cooking is completed.
