It just crumbled in my hand. And without the knob, there is no timer and hence, no steamer. Black and Decker used to make quality items, but the knob on this is clearly and predictably flawed. from Target.com You must replace the WHOLE UNIT. As it has been past 90 day warrenty through Target, I did contact Black & decker which they are replaing this item. So, while the steam still works, in order to use it, I had to prop it up with dish towels and use an external timer - not a very convenient kitchen tool after all.
