I really do not have enough experience with other steamer - rice cookers to evaluate the Sanyo knowingly. Its good points: it seems sturdy, and it does its job efficiently. from Cooking.com My previous rice cooker was an ancient Hitachi that was easy to use and maintain - just toss the pot and lid into the dishwasher when done. The new Sanyo is a nuisance to clean. Granted, the non-stick pot cleans easily (how long will the non-stick surface last?), but when the non-removable lid is lifted, condensation pours from the lid into channels along the rim of the unit, draining into a little plastic cup from Cooking.com I bought this cooker to replace a Black & Decker 10-cup, which was just too large for one person.
