My previous rice cooker was an ancient Hitachi that was easy to use and maintain - just toss the pot and lid into the dishwasher when done. The new Sanyo is a nuisance to clean. from Cooking.com I don't understand the "hard to clean" complaints. I have used it 30-40 times and have done nothing more than a wipe down.
