The Oster rice cooker is very good for cooking other foods besides rice. I have cooked beans, sausage and sauerkraute, chilli, stews, and of course rice. from Target.com I can make better in a saucepan on top of the stove. It gets incredibly hot, and the rice winds up brown and crunchy on the bottom and stuck to the non-stick surface, no matter how much water I've put in. When I contacted Oster, they told me that I need to cook at least 6 cups of rice for it to work properly.
