Best Remote Controls for Grandparent

and it had to be easy for my wife, a grandmother, and two younger childeren to use to control the following:

even our grandparents figured it out!

and once it's programmed, even my grandma could operate a complex home theater set up.

this remote merits a 5-star even though the initial programming is a bit daunting for seniors like me.

i just added a new audio switch to my system and it took me 5 minutes to set up and it worked perfectly.this should make it easier for the grandparents when they show up...just pick the action they

buy this for grandma, who doesn't like babysitting because she can't work the tv.

i had been looking for a programmable remote because i was tired of blank stares when parents or grandparents visited and wanted to watch tv.

my grandmother, god rest her soul, who always secretly cursed "the remotes" and all those darn buttons, could have operated the harmony 550 without her glasses.

remote quit 3 times in 2 weeks...using 12 batteries...originally had to pay serviceman to program software for us 78 yr old seniors...called logitech tech support and they were fantastic....walked me

much better than many tiny-buttoned oem remotes easy for the kids easy for the grandparents cons: kludgy interface to program web-only interface!!!

other thoughts: i purchased this remote for my grandfather to make his av equipment easier to operate, but wasn't able to come up to help him with setup for about 2 months.

but this is not the remote for your grandparents to program themselves, unless the grandchild will help.

i just don't expect grandma to be programming this.

i would recommend any of the other harmony remotes without reservation for any home theater, from the simpliest (grandmother) to the most elaborate (tom jones).
