the remote has a sleep function on it, and it says you can set up a tv that has a dvd and or vcr built in the tv, a lot of remotes will not do that.
i used this remote to program my tv, vcr and dvd player and had it operating all three devices within 5 to 10 minutes of taking it out of its packaging.
just 5 minutes after opening the box, i had this remote programmed to operate the tv, vcr and dvd player.
as a pre-emptive sacrificial replacement, the 4220 matches nearly all the buttons compared to the samsung tv remote i'm mothballing.
this remote works ok for my tv but only changes channels and does the guide for my charter magnavox cable box.
i am using it on a tv/vcr combo by panasonic and all of the functions are accessible using this remote.

our tv remote took one too many falls to the floor and this thing fills in real nice.
it took no time at all and i use it with my tv and home theatre system.
was looking for a replacement remote for an old tv.
for me it's a stereo with 2 cd players, a dvd player, a vcr (yeah - still a bit lost in the 80's) and, thanks to the learning capability, it's running my television that there aren't any remote codes
the fact that it can learn commands from other ir remotes enabled me to control my old sony multi-system tv.
for example to watch a dvd i've been able to set it up so that the remote sets the tv to dvd input then turns on the dvd player.
using two remotes, the old one and the one that comes with tivo, just fine, although it was inconvenient to have to find the old remote just to raise or lower the volume or turn on and off the tv.
there aren't many bells and whistles, but it does exactly what i need it to do: control a sony tv, a comcast motorola cable box, a panasonic dvd player, and a samsung vcr.
