i am in the habit of pointing my remote at the tv when ever i want to do anything and the transmitter, which is about 5 feet to the left of my tv, still picked up everything.

ok, so it is over priced a bit but it is a tivo remote, can learn your tv codes if you don't have your other remotes anymore, and it glows in the dark.
