I have tried all of the other off brand remotes, this one by far exceeds them. It is nice to have a remote for the PS2 that does not require the seperate IR plug that takes up a controller port. Hurray to Sony for finally getting this Product Attributes: Value: from Walmart.com It makes the DVD/CD functions a lot more easier to use than using the analog controller. I recently bought a newer version of the PS2 and along with that one as well, I bought a remote. I also bought a spare just in case sony ever quit making the PS2 and the remote. I bought my spare at a Movie Gallery for ten bucks brand new. from Walmart.com I GOT IT FOR MY HUSBAND AND HE LOVES THAT HE DOESN'T HAVE TO PLUG IN ANOTHER PIECE INTO THE PS2 AND THAT IT IS INFARED. HE WAS PLEASED AND SURPRISED WITH THE PRODUCT. BUT HE DID SAY SONY IS BETTER THAN THE OFF BRANDS FOR THE PS2. THAT IS WHY I WENT WITH THIS ONE. from Walmart.com I get this remote for free from Circuitcity when I bought PS2 network system, however it has a compatibility issue. The remote, I've reveived, was the model that has no IR receiver (to be plugged in the PS2). The picture shows that it has the IR receiver,however I received the 'New' model of Sony DVD remote that has no IR receiver. The 'New' model is good for PS2 SPCH 50001 and above (has a built in IR receiver). from Circuitcity.com The remote is not adaptable to the sony play station that is was sent with. I would give this item 5 stars if it could be programmed for my non-Sony equipment as well. from Amazon.com Since I do not have an lengthy PS2 game library, I use the PS2 console to watch movies and with the PS2 DVD Remote it is never a problem.
