Even with image stabilization those long shots are going to be shaky. Even with a tripod you will get shake when you manipulate the zoom control or hit the record button. With the remote commander those controls are at the end of a cable where the shake is removed. Also, the zoom control operates in a more fluid fashion with the remote. from Bhphotovideo.com If the five foot cord is long enough for your project the RM-AV2 is a fine product....it for any reason you have a need to get a little from Amazon.com I record my sons soccer games for his high school.
