... and I teach technology. Well I selected it because it was mentioned by someone during my search for remotes (and codes) for my new Coby 22" TV/DVD. The "One For All URC 8820 8-Device Universal Remote Control" didn't have codes for the Coby. from Amazon.com I bought this as a replacement for a Universal URC-7, which had lost the ability to learn new commands. Ultimately, I did a factory reset on the URC-7 and returned to using it instead of the All-In One. from Amazon.com I had had another "One For All" remote, and was very satisfied with it. However, I found this one confusing to program...and the manual was not very helpful. from Amazon.com I love this remote. It is the only one that I can find that controls my TiVo along with my other devices (without spending over $100). I refuse to have more than one remote laying around. from Amazon.com You can crack this remote open for a JP1 upgrade. You need to install a serial EEPROM chip on the PCB and solder a 6-pin header from which can program this remote. from Amazon.com It has a large number of different TV's, DVD's and other electronic devices. It works very well but the set of the numbers and the channel button are in an odd position. The numbers for the channels are at the top of the remote. The remote is narrow at the front and is wider at the bottom which makes putting in the channel numbers in very odd. from Amazon.com I bought this remote for my TV 3 years ago because I lost the orignal remote that came with it. I bought it for somewhere around the price that's listed on here and it works great! from Amazon.com This remote is getting 5 stars because it does everything I need without spending $150 and without the fuss of RF, LCD screens and rechargeable batteries which inevitably give out. This remote has the 3 most important features - learning, key override (aka punch-through), and macros. About the only thing I'd change about this remote is having a few more nonspecific buttons available for assigning keys that One-For-All did not anticipate. For example, my cable box remote has A,B,C, & D buttons which I had to assign to a different component's panel. from Amazon.com The best part about this remote is that it can "learn" new functions from the remotes it's replacing. Unique buttons like "tape position" from an old VCR remote can be assigned to one of the bottom keys.
