with the philips remote, all my old remotes are now in storage.
the philips tsu9400 is a very impressive remote control, capable of many things when configured correctly.
it definitely takes a day to program the unit (it is basically unusable out of the box as the pre-configured devices are for philips branded amp, tv, etc.)
it has nicely laid out adult size buttons and is easier to use than the philips.
i can highly recommend philips universal remotes with the learn capability.
philips sales many other simular looking silver remotes but if you have a dvr such as tivo or replay tv this is the only one to consider from the silver philips line.
it controls our dvd player, vcr, directv - tivo box and our magnavox/philips tv without a hitch.
there are a lot of remote controls on the market from the $999.95 (srp) philips pronto tsu7500 on down.
i am very happy with this philips 4-device universal remote control.
it only has had some trouble with this dvd/vcr combo from philips that we just got (which surprises me to no end).
i use them with a philips magnavox tv, vcr-tv combo, and dvd players and have had excellent results.

philips/magnavox customer service email has been out of service for weeks or months and a phone call to see what code would work with their tv and their remote got me a over-the-wire shrug.
i purchased the philips pm725s universal remote and proceeded to program the unit.
i am using two other philips/magnavox remotes that are far more convenient and operate better.
the philips 5 device remote has this same unfortunate feature (i bought that model first!!)
backlit buttons would be especially useful - at the very least, philips could've thrown-in glow-in-the-dark buttons.
an apex tv, rca dvd player and receiver, goldstar vcr, philips sat receiver.
note: philips has a terrible web site.
