i had the fan rattling noise too.

it is not an expensive appliance so if you are expecting 100% humidity, the ability to stay cold in your garage, or completely silent operation you may be disappointed.

i also didn't like the constant fan noise but, as someone else mentioned, i uscrewed the backplate and cut out the punch outs behind the two fans with a sabre saw.
