Unfortunately, I had to send it in for repair the first time I connected an HDMI source, because of "hum" on the HDMI audio. After repair it worked well until now, when all HDMI has failed. Its still under warranty, but I expected an Onkyo to be better than this. from Amazon.com I bought mine in January 2009, and it worked perfect, until one day it died! Called Onkyo, they told me that I was overseas so they wouldn't honor the warranty. I figured hey, it doesn't matter, I'll be traveling to Boston in a few days, and I'll take it with me and give it to one of their service centers in Boston..... from Amazon.com The VCR had audio no problem, but no video. It seems like the HDMI out port isn't working. Onkyo customer service was disinterest in my problem (after a 30 minute phone wait). The best they could offer was to contact the local repair, but they wouldn't tell me who, only to look it up on the web site. from Amazon.com (By local they meant a 45 minute drive to the other side of town). After a month of waiting I was called and told that there is a problem with this line and they are waiting on parts that are on back order. I called Onkyo cutomer care and was very rudely told that there was nothing they were willing to do I would have to wait for the parts to come in. They are projecting that the order will come on September 30th so I am guessing it will be mid October before I get my Receiver and that is if there are enough parts to get to mine. from Amazon.com After doing a lot of research I decided on ordering the Onkyo receiver, mainly due to the positive feedback on Amazon. However, I immediately ran into problems when I first hooked it up. from Amazon.com Purchased this receiver and it recently, for no apparent reason, decided to no longer have HDMI. Since that is all I have running in my walls for the TV, it makes the receiver essentially useless. Furthermore, my local Onkyo repair center is "backed up", meaning I get to send it across the country to the "regional center" for repair at my expense. You should hear them to know what they can make you hear. Initially when I used Onkyo, it was ok. The reason I decided on this specific receiver is because of the 7.1 capability, the multizone functioning, and the 4 HDMI in, and 1 HDMI out. from Amazon.com I been a fan of Onkyo for a few years now, their sound quality is great and so is their equipment without spending alot of money like you would with other brands. I bought this system to replace my old Onkyo receiver that lacked HDMI ports, installation was a breeze and it removed alot of the wire clutter from my old receiver. from Amazon.com
