Got this well-rated receiver, but worked and worked to get it out of "enhanced surround" to no avail. Tech support at SONY useless, and Crutchfield asked me to ship it back after we reveiwed my corrective measures. No more of these, so bought a DG1200 and hope to escape the SONY hex. from Crutchfield.com For the price the Sony STRDG920 is one of the best middle of the line A/V receivers on the market today. It meets most peoples needs and with its on screen display, installation and set up has never been easier. from Amazon.com My setup: I use my STR-DG920 with a custom built HTPC (home theater PC), Sony Bravia KDL-52W4100, xBox, Wii. Normally I would wait to make a review until I had the unit a few weeks and really had a chance to check it out. But I was on Sony's Web site looking for some additional info on the unit and see that as of today this unit "is no longer available for purchase" (discontinued?)and is not listed if you "shop" for AV receivers. So, if you need a dedicated phono input you will have to upgrade to the STR-DA series as the remaining DG820 and below do not have this feature. from Amazon.com This receiver is similar to the Sony ES receiver without dual zone. I like the 1080p upconversion. from Amazon.com My old receiver dropped lock every time the BD audio volume peaked leaving me to conclude that BD carries increased bandwidth over DVD that older receivers can't handle. Not sure if that is right but that's the only thing I and others can think of. So anyway, I needed to replace my eight year old Sony. You just can't beat the input/output options on the STRDG920. from Amazon.com Two things to consider how NOT to design an A/V receiver and what to expect with this otherwise excellent unit: 1) SONY should put back the spring-loaded speaker wire connectors.
