missions can get tedious, but fighting foes is the only way you'll be able to level yourself up and gain enough points to fuse your materia up, and this opportunity is what the missions present.

there probably won't be a lot of replay value (as i don't find much in the final fantasy games) but they provide tens of hours of gameplay to make up for that.
