We'd heard about the lamp life and color problems on other projection TVs. from Amazon.com I just recently purchased my Panasonic (PT-56LCZ70) and I absolutely love it. At first when I started shopping for HDTVs I was looking at the LCDs and the plasmas but for the price point at the size that I wanted, it was just way over my budget. from Amazon.com After reviewing the TV side by side with the Sony & Samsung best sellers, I choose this Panasonic and put the $600 difference to better use. Many functions and picture control options for fine tuning of picture and sound, but not needed. I have always liked the Sony SXRD models the best, but when I viewed the Sony 61" SXRD side-by-side with the Panasonic 56" at the store and barely noticed any difference except for the price (the Panasonic was $1,029 less than the Sony during a short term Xmas sale) I also purchased the Toshiba HD-A30 HD-DVD Player and the two coupled together are unbelievable (Player On-sale: $250 plus get seven decent selectable HD-DVDs ($25 each) so the player only has a net cost of $75). from Cnet.com hooked up wrong or be senile because this t.v. can compete on an even level with t.v.'s that are over twice it's price! I compared it side by side with the new Samsung HLT models and I thought the Panasonic looked a little better, although the Samsung did look nice also. Unless you are buying a top of the line plasma, the HD on this set can't be beaten. from Amazon.com Ok, I really like Panasonic's phone's and camera's. I trust the brand. from Amazon.com I was debating between this TV and the 56" Samsung with the LED light engine. While I was at the store, this TV and the Samsung were sitting right next to each other. The Samsung was about $700 more than this Panasonic, but the picture wasn't $700 better - that's for sure. I was concerned by the initial brightness setting of the Panasonic in that I felt it was a little on the dark side, but after I got into the settings and fixed them to my preferences, I was able to get it to look just as good as the Samsung. from Cnet.com
