depending on the quality of your chip, it'll decide whether or not it can go higher but i'd say it's possible to at least push this up to 3.0ghz with no problem whatsoever.

if you want a real un cripled cpu the e8400 its all the same 45 nm core its just some are quality from the wafer and if you get a quality cpu from the wafer intel makes sure you pay for it.
