I've upgraded one of my home built computer from a Prescott Pentium 4 at 3.4 GHz to this 45 nm Pentium dual core 2.6 GHz, Wolfdale E5300. To do this upgrade, also entails replacing the motherboard to the ASrock 775i65G rev 2.0. from Amazon.com not only a great cpu but a great price i was surprised when it came with a intel cpu fan i would recommend this to anybody. from Amazon.com The value on this cpu is amazing. This is the same wolfdale core used on the core 2 duo with the only differences being the pentium has only 2mb l2 cache and no sse4. 45nm means less power usage and is cooler. from Amazon.com This is a cheap 45nm processor that can outperform all Core 2 duo's with a little bit of overclocking, for about $200 less. I built an OSX system using this cpu & a g31 gigabyte mobo. It's easy to run stable at 3.5 ghz using the stock cooler & temps hold well during heavy usage. I just wish intel would spend a little more on providing larger heatsinks, since this is tiny in comparison to the heat sinks found in your typical dell... from Amazon.com Pros: This is a good value for the money. Put on an aftermarket cooler and overclocked to 3.2 ghz without so much as a voltage adjustment. Popped it in my machine (a P31 based Gigabyte board) and upped the FSB to 1333 and lowered the multiplier to 11 , expecting it not to go (Intel seems to limit it's lower end chips from going any higher then 1200 on the FSB), but it booted right up at 3.66 Ghz on STOCK VOLTAGE. Ran Orthos right away... from Newegg.com Pros: Overall good value. Have it clocked at the default of 2.5GHz paired with a GIGABYTE GA-G41M-ES2L and WINTEC AMPO 2GB DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800.
