I have always been an "Intel man." There is nothing wrong with AMD, I just like Intel. The Core 2 Duo processors are extremely fast and for the money are a better buy right now verses the Quad processors. from Amazon.com I've been using this processor for the last year and have been thrilled. With a cheap aftermarket cooler, I've been able to run it rock solid at 3.8ghz - although the stock setting of 3.16 is fast to begin with. from Amazon.com i had a E6600 at 3.2gh and it was starting to get old and i wanted to upgrade to be good for more years to come , so i bought this E8500 ,and i overclocked it to 4.2gh yes 4.2 and it took me maybe 5 min , for you who wants to know from Amazon.com I've used this 45 nm 3.16 GHz Wolfdale Core 2 Duo E8500, on my home built computer last year. The performance of this CPU is more than three times than that of the Pentium 4 at 3.4 GHz overall. from Amazon.com Pros: There's not much to be said about the E8500 that hasn't been covered before. This Intel product has exceeded my expectations and is wonderful for my gaming rig. Stays nice and cool, idles at 42-45 C even after being on all day with the stock cooler. from Newegg.com Pros: Really good on games; Faster comp, nice on vids and etc. Easy OC Cons: none so far Other Thoughts: Probably Quad-core will go better with some programs. from Newegg.com Pros: very fast processor.i was only able to manage 4.2ghz on an evga 750i sli.i found it hard to obtain stability at this speed but i think its feasable.the trick with the wolfdale cpu's is that they dont like higher voltages.going from 4.0ghz to 4.2 requires a good bump in voltage from 1.34 to 1.4.the trick is to keep your vcore down as low as possible and up the FSB voltage. Cons: wish it was more stable with higher voltages,but with 45nm what can you expect. from Newegg.com Pros: Installed quickly and with no problems. I read other reviews so I didn't even mess with the stock cooler. I installed a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro and no problems whatsoever. from Newegg.com
