My old R220 is easier on my wallet. The print quality is outstanding, printing CDs is a snap compared to the older printers, but the ink consumption is insanely high. I do print a lot, but I print on my R1400 and my R220 enough to be able to see which machine uses the most, and it is, sadly, the 800. It's a good bet if you're not doing lots of color prints, but if you are, expect to pay for the conveniences of the 800. from Amazon.com When this happens you can't use the printer at all, no scanner, no fax, nothing. It renders it totally useless. After about an hour on the phone with Epson, and 2 weeks later, I finally got a replacement ink cartridge. It worked again for about a week and then decided that the ink heads needed to be cleaned, but that ink was too low in the remaining cartridges. from Amazon.com Before I bought it, I read that some people were having issues with ink consumption and jamming. I haven't had any of that and I print many, many 8-1/2" x 11" and smaller sized pictures for family and friends. This printer replaced an Epson Stylus 925 (another fabulous picture printer) because I wanted to upgrade to a more current model. I'm glad I did. from Amazon.com When ONE color runs short, this unit WILL NOT let you print anything in black or grayscale! I had to print a very important FedEx label a few days ago, and because magenta was low, it would not let me print in plain black. Epson has been sued over this, and I am convinced that if you print 100% B&W, your color ink levels will slowly fall.
