HP did find a fix, in the form of an update and then threw it out. The fix was gone by the time I had replaced my computer. I don't know how it works with other products, but if you are running vista and want a reliable scanner avoid this all-in-one/ from Bestbuy.com I went online about 3 months ago and found this printer on sale for $50.00 new limited time only. I asked my son-in-law (computer eng.) if it was the same one he had and before he e-mailed me back he went online and got him one. He had the older 6310.
