I've been tired of paying so much for refills for my Dymo Letra-Tag label maker so I started searching for an alternative. I decided to try the Brother PT-2430PC and haven't looked back. Features I like: from Amazon.com it does what it's supposed to and the size is great, but a couple things i don't like about it is the fact that it cuts ~1/4" piece of tape before it prints a new job and the usb only transmits data and i wish it provided power to the unit as well... the solution to my first gripe is to print them all out at once and cut it myself, but i rarely print in bulk so... from Amazon.com Pros: The "no-install" feature works as advertised. The p-touch advance software that you install on your PC is very useful and easy to use and includes bar code capabilities. For me, the best feature is that the device includes a real printer driver so I'm able to create, draw, and print my own labels in 3rd party apps including Adobe Illustrator CS3. from Newegg.com I started off a bit skeptical with the Brother PC-connectable label maker. The installation of the drivers and software on my Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium x64 operating system went smoothly and quickly, and the software and label printer work flawlessly together with the 64-bit OS. from Amazon.com We have an older model P-touch labeler and really like it, but this model takes it to another level with the ability to take a very broad range of label tapes (up to an inch wide!) and to print from your PC. I have a slight gripe with the name - "connectable" connotes the ability, but not requirement to connect with a PC. from Amazon.com
