-After a year, the printer stopped printing right. Every fifth line of text is unreadable. Out of warranty = no service from Epson. Summary: A printer should last longer than a year, and a year's worth of ink should cost less than the printer. from Amazon.com I have had this printer for several months. I have two more Epson Printers and I want to put this one in the garbage. Oh and the printer runs out of ink very quickly, like at a very annoying pace if you do moderate printing of full colour images. Also, I've gone from XP to Vista 32 to Vista 64 with this printer, and it has never missed a beat. Epson is really great about keeping their printer drivers working and up to date. Even though it worked perfectly well, I refuse, on principle, to send one more penny epson's way for ink. from Amazon.com While it seems that many of the reviews acknowledge some downsides of this machine, there is also some clarification that needs to be made regarding several features. I am so unhappy with this machine that I felt it necessary to explain why. 1) Yes, it has been mentioned, but I must reiterate that the ink capacities are ridiculously low, using all colors of the ink constantly, and will not let you continue to fax if the machine thinks it needs to be changed. We use this machine solely for black and white faxing; however, the colored ink seems to be disappearing just as fast as the black ink, and at different times! from Amazon.com The next issue was that printer wouldn't catch the paper in the feed unless there was a good stack behind it to push the paper forward into the feed. A few weeks later, it started taking the paper in at only one corner, causing the printer to jam. I called Epson. They sent me a refurbished replacement. from Amazon.com I would estimate I print 30 pages every 2 weeks, and yet I have to replace ink cartridges every other week. In HP printers, if a cartridge is low, you can continue printing at a reduced print quality. The Epson interface will not allow you to print if it has convinced itself that there is low ink.
