Installation of the HP 4280 is simple, even if you are installing it on a new computer and lost the installation CD. HP's support website has all the downloads to insert the most up-to-date upgrades to the software.

The 4280 comes free with Macs (if you didn't get one with yours, a) you got ripped off; and b) don't worry -- read on...). And, apparently, this is supposed to be the HP all-in-one that is compatible with Macs.

Horrible printer, I am a college student and needed a reliable printer, the F4280 was not the right choice. I used it for two months before initial problems occured, and now it doesn't work at all.

I set aside the time to connect this printer/scanner/copier to my computer this morning. Once I got the power going, print/scanner alignment and software running on WinXp...there was no usb cord! I tried a few different usb cords I had around the house, but the printer takes a special usb cord, which none of mine fit. "Why in the hell would you sell something and leave out the most important cheap part?" Did they think I was going to use this printer without a computer?

This is the second HP printer-copier-scanner I have owned--the first one had to be replaced because the copy and scan features quit working. The F4280 is working well initially; given the price, if it works well for a year I will be well satisfied.

I purchased the DeskJet F4280 a few weeks ago, after upgrading to a Vista 64 computer and finding that my old Canon scanner couldn't make the leap. The F4280 does a very nice job of printing, and the scanner seems quite competent.
