Summary: The Epson 3800 is a clear winner! Congratulations Epson. from Mwave.com I've been using this printer for over a year now. After getting my paper and profile choices dialed in (Ilford Galerie Gold Fibre Silk with profile provided on Ilford's web site) the 3800 has been making consistently outstanding prints. Color prints are as good or better than Lightjet or Chromira prints I've had made by high-end professional labs. from Amazon.com Printer arrived less than two weeks ago, and a magnet that holds the "front door" closed came unglued, causing it to drop open and stay open. I called Epson service and was told to take it to the service dealer (150 miles away) or ship it back for a serviced unit. You'd think Epson could send a new part, some glue, or some solution that would save money at a time when everyone is looking to cut costs. from Amazon.com The 3800 was my first printer. Made first rate prints right out of the box with Photoshop C3. from Amazon.com I am a professional photographer and decided that I was tired of the horizontal banding on my 7600 whenever I did not use it for a few days always necessitating a head cleaning or two. After 6 years and 11,000+ prints I'm really not complaining about the 7600 but it was time to make a decision. from Amazon.com I had purchased this as a backup for my epson photo printer. Got to use it about 6 times-something was burning inside of it so I contacted HP and go so much grief then kept tellime me the warrantee was up and I informed them it wasn't up till July 2008 and it was a defaulty workmanship so they had to make good on it. from Amazon.com I am very pleased with the images from the 3800. The only problem I had was the cd that came with the printer was warped but I downloaded the drivers from the website. from Amazon.com For me, the INK MAINTENANCE CARTRIDGE was missing. The printer won't function without it, so I couldn't even install the software and see if I liked what I'd bought. Epson and Amazon should clean up their quality control act. It may be a great printer or a lousy printer, but I won't know until I pay Epson $40 to overnight a part that should have been installed in the first place. from Amazon.com Don't buy the optional ColorBurst RIP software. There's nothing wrong with the software, except that it only works with Epson papers.
