I bought this printer believing that Kodak had conquered the high cost of printer ink. But, alas, it's NOT TRUE. from Amazon.com The people who like Kodak printers are the ones who haven't had them long. The printers have a design flaw which necessitates frequent replacing of the print head. from Amazon.com What on earth is Kodak trying to do? It prints fabulous color pages of photographs on kodak photo paper. However, the quality of of color on plain paper is terrible. from Amazon.com When I initially saw the advertisements for the new line of Kodak printers, I thought the strategy was perfect. Specifically, while most of the competitors in the personal printer categories were operating with a razor & blade strategy (i.e charging a low price for the printer and excessive prices for the subsequent ink/toner replacement cartridges), Kodak elected to move in a new & customer-centric direction by providing quality printers and reasonable prices for replacement ink cartridges. from Amazon.com and that is what happened to mine. I brought it home and installed it all and it printed great, BUT I had ink in an older printer so I wanted to use all my ink from my Lexmark first. This past week I had to replace the ink in my Lexmark so I started to use the Kodak and all it would do was shoot paper through, nothing on the page at all. I called the Kodak site and they said that since it had been setting for more that a few days the head had probably dried up so they were very nice and overnighted me another print head (free). from Amazon.com Purchased the printer based on the low advertised ink cost. Print speed is far below that listed in the specifications. A black text document takes 20 to 25 second per page to print (and allow an extra 30 seconds "initiliazation" period prior to first page starting to print). Printing the on-board demo color page takes a full minute to print even after the initializaiton phase. from Amazon.com It's noisy and uses a lot of ink; however, when printing photos it does a good job.
