The Epson Stylus CX3810 takes another step up from the CX3800 in terms of budget minded multifunction printers, however the change is only slight. All the essentials are the same: the scanner and copier are at the same 48 bit 600 dpi, the print resolution is at a max of 5,760 dpi, has color and black and white copying PC free, and uses 4 individual Epson DURABrite Ultra ink cartridges for better ink efficiency. from Castleink.com I complained to the company and they sent a replacement ink cartridge, which didn't work and then they sent a new printer, which again only worked until ONE of the initial ink cartridges ran out. Once you replace it, it won't register the new one. I feel like asking for my money back and buying a brand that isn't Epson. from Amazon.com Pros: Works fine, windows driver package not bloated like some other manufacturers. Cons: Not the most economical on ink, but better than most cheap printers. Other Thoughts: As with all inkjets, turn off the printer if you are not going to be printing anything for 24+ hrs. Also, printing a small test document once a week can help prevent nozzles clogging (and subsequent ink usage to clean them). from Newegg.com Cons: I found no cons to this printer. Other Thoughts: If you don't use you printer much then I would suggest a printer that uses printer heads on the print cartridge so that you can easily through the cartridge away. But we have owned our Epson for just one or two weeks short of a year and are very happy. Receipts and other non-traditional media are problematic for this scanner. Online support for this Epson model on their website has not been available or 'down' the last 2 times that I have tried to access it. I just replaced my black cartridge and the printer only printed in color. from Amazon.com I bought this printer to so I'd have an all in one and save the desk space and I really regret getting rid of my old Canon scanner and HP printer. The old canon scanned with one press of a button, this one takes a few too many steps and the scanning interface isn't as friendly as canon's I am constantly running out of ink, this Epson has the shortest ink life I've ever seen in a printer. Photo printing has always been marginal, but recently I purchased ink cartridges from epson, and now the colors will not print. from Amazon.com the cleaning cycle uses some ink, and after 4 or 5 cycles sometimes i use as much as a quarter tank of ink just to clean the nozzles out before i can print. the ink tanks cost almost as much as the entire printer. the next time the ink runs out im throwing the printer in the trash and never buying another epson product. as i write this im trying to print out a page of words and am currently in my 8th cleaning cycle to try and get a decent looking page. from Newegg.com Cons: It's cheap, and you get what you pay for. Only four ink colors at a time. If you are concerned about photorealism go for an Epson with six or eight color capability.
