i purchased this mainly because i wanted the other computers on our home network to be be able to print if my laptop(configured as the print server) was turned off, or i was away on business.

the main difference was that d-link suggested installing the print server as a local tcp/ip printer instead of a networked printer and, bingo, i got the jetdirect to print.
