Pros: Standard Linksys web interface if you are familiar with it. Works ok with compatible printers. from Shopping.com I admin several networks for an emergency service, and we use a wireless printing solution in one of the workrooms to avoid having to plug and unplug printers into the USB port (the Toughbooks get so much action on the USB port that they break within 6 months...they weren't designed for so many cycles). Over the past two weeks, I have had daily problems with the WPS54GU2 which require resets of either the laptops (reassociation with the PS) or of the PS itself. The PS will load up its internal spooler faster (requiring a power cycle to reset) using the parallel port as opposed to the USB port, but it will still "break" totally randomly using the USB port. from Amazon.com I have had nothing but trouble with this print server since I purchased it. After looking up the model number via google, I realize the hours of troubleshooting have been a huge waste of time since everyone else has the same problem. Linksys should be ashamed for not doing a better job of supporting this turd, but I will search out another of better quality and buy that instead of losing more valuable time here. Sniffing IP packets through Ethereal showed that that connection attempt SYN was immediately RESetted. We used this WPS54GU2 on two printers, a Brother and a Xerox WorkCentre via USB. On the other end of the connection is a Linksys access point. from Amazon.com One more thing: as many others have mentioned, you should make SURE this device is configured with a static IP address. If this confuses you, get help from someone who knows what they are doing. Sadly, this probably does NOT mean Linksys "Tech Support" who will likely tell you that they cannot help you determine the settings for your home/business network. from Amazon.com Just what I needed to allow two wirelessly connected computers to use one printer. I particularly wanted the Linksys because I have an ALL-Linksys type of wireless system already. It makes a big difference if you can stick with the same company's products as far as compatibility is concerned. from Amazon.com Four weeks later, having received nothing from the company, I was charged for an additional unit. I called the company to contest the charges. Linksys told me that they were out of stock and charged me because they had not received the return unit! I have all Linksys equipment - router, switches, etc. from Amazon.com I had to remove the Photosmart because the printer server seemed to have some kind of buffer overflow issue when printing large color photos (I'd get 1/2 a page and then junk would start spewing). But the HP 5p works fine (don't they all!). Small and easy to configure, doesn't support the latest security features, discontinued product (no firmware updates available), doesn't support the "standard" 54g security options. I got it cheap and it does what I need it to do - we can print from the laptop without wires. from Amazon.com I have had various WiFi networking solutions in my home and office for several years. While some Linksys units have worked for me, more often I have found them undependable. In particular, the WPS54GU2 set up fine, but I almost always had to cycle the power to get it to work each time I printed. from Amazon.com This device works for me. No problem with it recognizing the printer. I did have a few issues getting it to connect to my Linksys wireless network, but it was simply a case of using the right key number sequence. As with every Linksys device I've ever bought, the configuration utility on the CD failed to identify the device on the network, so I had to configure it manually from its web interface, but - after about an hour - I had it working and printing to my HP Laserjet 1100 parallel printer. from Amazon.com
