For less than $4 you can't go wrong. The boys at preschool have managed to keep this intact for almost the whole year - I gave the class 3 last Xmas.
I bought this for my grandson who is two years old. It is much more durable than the one from the fire station that he got.
The plastic is not flimsy at all. It has an adjustable plastic insert(similar to a ball cap but covering the entire inner part of the hat) so it can fit a variety of child head sizes - possibly adults as well. There is a sticker on the front that looks like a badge and reads "Fire Chief". This was a bit uneven and that is my only complaint about it.
The cheap plastic giveaways the local department gives won't stay on my son's head. This has a nice adjustable head band inside. My son loves this, although he did try to trade it for a real fireman's helmet when we stopped by one day. Good try for a 2-year old.
