From what I have been reading, this is a record life span for a portable DVD player. Ours has been dropped (numorous times), colored on, food spilled on, used and abused by our now 3 year old. We are in the market for a new one because the door that holds the DVD in finally broke, the player still works great, it just has to be completely still...also we have two kids now and would like 2 screens. We will definitely buy another Polaroid. from Target.com I am on my second Polaroid DVD player. I chalked up the first one failing on hard use by my son. from Target.com I love my Polaroid DVD player! I have never had a problem with it, and I have had it over a year now!! from Target.com I soon learned this company's DVDs are hit and miss. I missed. 2 days after my purchase the screen went blank. I has sound but, no picture. from Target.com We got this for Christmas '06, and although it worked fine for 7 months it sure doesn't now. All it says is bad disk or just freezes the picture on the screen. Nice 90 day warranty. from Amazon.com I purchased this product 9 months ago prior to a car trip. It worked fine that trip then we used it again a couple of months later - now I have been trying to use it and it started to say "bad disk" with most of my DVDs - now it even says "bad disk" with brand new DVDs. One morning she watched a movie and then put in a new one, but there was no picture. We could hear the movie, but nothing on the screen.
