i don't usually use the butter feature and i saw someone thought that the popcorn popped too quickly for the butter to melt (which is true since it does pop fast).

i use two tablespoons of canola oil (orville r's oil is good too and slightly buttery), 2/3 cup of store-brand white rice popcorn (cheaper than orville's and more tender imho).

my only issue is the butter well doesn't work so great, but we found its better tasting and less messy to add the topping oil in before you pop.

and very good consistancy, and until i get the popcorn i ordered online i am using microwave popcorn warmed in the microwave for 35 seconds so that the butter melts down...and it's still great!
