Its fun to go offroading in any car or blow up trucks and buildings. But if you like to stick to the story line it might get a little hard to complete. Other than that its is by far one of the best PS2 games!!!!!!!! from Amazon.com I just love this game. My brother and I bought it about a year ago and have played it many many times since. First, for a game on the ps2, the graphics aren't to bad. But the infantry animations were mediocre. Lucasarts didn't take advantage of the power of the PS2. The AI is so dumb. from Amazon.com If you are just doing the contracts and not exploring areas in-between contracts it will be some what boring. If you explore the North Koren territor [Wich is located strait passed the South Koreans huge air bace] you will find a lot of hidden treasurs like empty tanks you can get in with out hijaking. Theres other stuff there but I havent had the time to check it out becaus my ps2 is currently broken. I will hopfully get it fixed so I can tell you what the other hidden treasures are. from Amazon.com But that's it, really. It gets really repetitive, really fast. The formula is "kill/apprehend this guy, do it again." Shooting is extremely basic, with main controls being shoot and jump. Its cool that the game is big and open, with lots of vehicles, but it just seems like a lesser version of the popular Grand Theft Auto series. from Amazon.com This Game Could be called GTA in North Korea. But that would be an understatement. What this game does is put the Best Aspects Of GTA and adds a ton of features for a war game. You have the ability to call in airstrikes, Supply and AMMO Drops, Pickup for the captured Terrorists, and the variety of destructable objects is unlimited. from Amazon.com That's an apt description of Mercenaries. This is a game that has the gameplay aspect nailed perfectly. It is simply the best game of current "new" titles that are out, and (to use the tired old cliche) one of the best ever for the PS2. Earns a spot of honor on my shelf, right up there with Kingdom Hearts, the Ratchet & Clank series, Need for Speed Underground 2, Spiderman 2, Burnout 3, and the Lord of the Rings series(Both The Two Towers and The Return of the King). from Amazon.com Mercenaries is a very lengthy game and will provide hours of entertainment, most of the time as you just blow the living crap out of everthing around you. But the game is deeper than that however, but you can take it as you please. For example, you can take on missions and earn money using helicopters, tanks, sports cars (every mission can be different every time) or you have the freedom to go on a rampage and make not only the citizens, but the factions, violently mad. The graphics in Mercenaries are awesome and seem a bit like Freedom Fighters mixed Star Wars Battlefront, as others have mentioned. from Amazon.com This is one of the best games ever made for the Ps2.
