This is a great game with great gameplay. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner, like most Shin Megami Tensei games, is a dark rpg. However, the gameplay is a little different particularly in the fighting. from Amazon.com I don't mind the barely-better-than-ps1 look of the graphics. The graphics were good enough. I was getting into the story, combat was interesting, I liked the way characters leveled up, the side-quests were often amusing, looking forward to summoning all sorts of monsters until... For a Final Fantasy to have so much depth and great battles (turn base beats FF12's system any day) this is the best FF on PS2. I don't even think Final Fantasy XII has this, and we all know how Star Wars-ish that game is(in a good way). Listen, this is a very good game, in fact the turn-based system harkens to Mega Man X: Command Mission if you look at the sidebar on the right side of the battle screen close enough, but it would've been another really good Final Fantasy title IF IT WASN'T FOR THE LEVEL UP MAP!!! I didn't put it back in until several months later. I had to force myself to play through the beginning and when Tidus first meets Rikku simply because it was so boring. Tidus hates his alchoholic father, Auron was supposed be exiled, Yuna is half-exiled after her secret is discovered, Lulu's first summoner died, Wakka has never won a blitz game until the tournament, Kamari had his horn broke, some other stuff too.
