I have a cat who lays on the vents or by the electrical heating unit all the time during the winter. I figured what better way to spoil her (even more) than give her a heated pad that is on 24/7 all year round. At first she didn't seem too keen on it.
This is super my kitty stayed warm all winter. Now he is a inside kitty.
I hate to break this product's string of five star reviews but mine has two very small problems. It's stiff plastic but it's not flat so it rocks when placed on a flat surface. Cats hate unstable surfaces so I had to pad the bottom with a towel. The other problem is that the bottom is slippery so if you put it on something like a coffee table, it will slide when the cat jumps off.
This has been (literally) a lifesaver for my outdoor feral farm cats. I have it in their shelter, and all four of them huddle up on it during the cold nights.
I purchased this for my office's outdoor cat, and although she doesn't use it as often as we thought she would, other cats have come around and do use it. We keep it plugged in 24-7 in a dog house, and I don't know if she understands she has to lay on it to get it to warm up (but the other cats sure figured it out...)
He has always stayed at a distance. To protect him from the elements, we tried everything to coax him into the cellar (even liverwurst) but he was too cautious. Now we have the cat heated pad in his outside shelter and he is a new cat. He LOVES it - we can even pet him.
We have an outside cat who refuses to come indoors. We made him a "house." We had blankets and a thermal heating pad, but this has been such a cold winter we were concerned about him. Since we have installed the heating pad, he does not want to come out of his "house".
I care for three feral cats, and these pads are literally life savers. When the temperature recently dropped into the subzero range, the cats wouldn't come out of the houses where these pads are.
We have a cat that basically adopted us and cannot be in the house over this cold winter. (Allergies and a strict no-pet rule from our landlords) She is such a sweetie and although I had a nice igloo with lots of insulation made up, I still felt like she was just too cold. This product is the perfect size, comes with a nice little pad to go over it and gets about the perfect temperature. She LOVES it.
Received cat heated mat when promised. and have used it ever since, working fine and had several very cold and windy days and nights and the cat has been content to stay in her house and not beg to come inside.
