we purchased the Midland wr-100 weather radio, we live in Southeast Louisiana and wanted to be alerted of threatening weather and tropical storm and hurricane alerts. I have NOT had one alert pertaining to our area in the 3+ years we have owned this radio, and we had this radio for Hurricanes Katrina, Gustave and a few others. from Radioshack.com Ordered 3 of these radios and only one worked. The antenna broke off on the first use. Midland had a good reputation at one time for building decent weather radios, but their engineering and product quality have both slipped... from Radioshack.com I was the one who wrote a review a while back complaining about the tests in text only. Well, after a year of using this radio, I have given up on it and bought a first alert WX-150. This WR-100 has a major flaw; it is hit and miss on the alerts! What happens if I connect it to my Mac?Whenever possible I like to keep all my equipment looking like new; the faceplate came covered with a nice thick piece of removable static adhering vinyl; I wanted to leave it in place, however the manufacturer printed info on the vinyl so I had to remove it to be able to read the digital readout.
