The battery compartment is not on the back it is under the lid!

Also I kinda wish the battery compartment wasn't under the cd itself, I'd like to change them out without taking the cd out.

The battery compartment has been moved from the back of the unit to inside the lid, making it a little tricky to change batteries but this is not a serious drawback.
