XP/Vista & Linux umpcs don't offer a full day of battery with instant on (and a full boot of about 1-1.5 minute/s). Via browser, I can control my XP PC anyway.
Absolutely worth the money. I would recommend some additional tweaking to unlock it's full potential: - RealVGA to use the VGA display - TCPMP to watch divx xvid movies on the huge screen
It carries no un-usable cosmetics what so ever. I now have abandoned my desktop and laptop for the interest I see in this unit. HTC as usual has done it again and set grounds for others thats going to be hard to follow, HTC has placed tomorrow's technologies in a today's unit and has done it with precision. Thank you so much HTC for being who you are and how well your merchandise is put together for those of us who appreciate REAL technology and pure pleasure of using your merchandise.
This is a wonderfully designed handheld device. I did not buy X701 to use a phone. Already have a cellphone...
I'm an early adopter so had to have one of these early on. I love this device. If you travel a lot, need to connect on the go and really take care of things -- send files, write email, check flight schedules, get directions, etc -- but don't want to pull out a laptop everytime, this is the way to go. I have a pocket pc phone, but sometimes that is too small to really get the job done.
"On paper, the pocket-slate HTC Advantage literally has everything: A big, five-inch screen, integrated Wi-Fi and 3G radios, stereo Bluetooth, GPS, 3-megapixel camera, and a nifty detachable keyboard that adheres to the bottom of the Advantage magnetically. In your hands, though, the Advantage is a bit of a wreck."
The HTC Advantage X7501 is a powerful mobile computer for on-the-go professionals, delivering a full feature set and speedy performance. However, it will probably only appeal to early adopters and gadget hounds.

We think the Advantage is worth the premium--but only for a very select group of road warriors.
The size is only a problem if you don’t like carrying a bag. Don’t try a belt clip please. It’s unlocked so just pop your SIM in and you’re ready to go. The iPhone is more fun but if you need to get work done on your mobile, this is the phone to get.
