A PC laptop for music production should have at least 2 Gb of RAM (4 Gb or more for the most serious producers) and a 100 Gb hard drive at the very minimum. Unedited, raw music files can take up a lot of space and hog the memory of a computer as you open, modify, and save your files.
Look for a processor speed above 2.0 Ghz. The more processing speed your PC laptop has, the faster you can load large music files, and the faster your editing software will perform.

You will want to have a high-quality sound card with audio in and out, RCA and ¼” jacks, and MIDI in and out jacks.
