Wize Buying Guide for College
Another thing to consider is size and weight. A college student usually carries his or her laptop around quite a bit. A heavier laptop will take its toll on one's back and feet, so you want to shop for a lightweight model. Of course, that doesn't mean that you want to buy the smallest laptop you can find. A student spends a lot of time working on a laptop and a smaller screen means more eye strain. A combination of a large screen (17" is great) and a light weight (less than 8 pounds) is perfect.
Of course, you'll want to make sure the laptop you buy is fast, powerful, and has ample storage. A good rule of thumb: shop for a minimum of 80GB of hard drive space and at least 1GB of RAM. A processor speed of at least 1.7 GHz is recommended. Follow these guidelines and you can be assured that you've supplied your college student with the tools for success.
