I bought an Averatec 4100 for my wife one year ago. I had read all of these negative comments,... from Cnet.com although the averatec 4000 series may not be designed for gaming, it does handle everything is... from Cnet.com Wow, I must admit that I was not sure about Averatec (I've heard good reviews of this brand in the past and some poor reviews by users recently on other websites mainly about their service) but I have been pleasantly surprised! I called Averatec's customer service line to test their service (before I bought this notebook), and they were very helpful, knowledgeable about the products and offered to have the unit serviced immediately (I told them that I owned one already and I had a problem with the battery). from Buy.com I have owned this notebook for over 5 months now, and admit to some trepidation over the negative press Averatec seems to get from Amazon and CNET users alike. I travel at least twice monthly and take this notebook with me--the primary reason for the purchase was the impressive light weight and features combined with a bargain price. from Amazon.com My 4155 is a refurbished model that I had shipped to the UK from the states. After reading all the very negative reviews about Averatec generally, as well as this particular model, I was very nervous. from Amazon.com If anything, some problems may be due to limited cooling. I wouldn't characterize this as a high power system, if you push it hard, it will get a little warm. I use mine as a supplement to my PC and tread lightly on the little notebook.
