I bought 2 HP laptops and have had nothing but trouble. 1 laptop had to go back to the shop three times: once because the bracket connecting the screen to the keyboard broke, once because the hard drive was defective and once because the sound card was defective. from Amazon.com I like the keyboard with the 10-key. IT has no PCMCIA/PC Card or Expresscard slots. THE STUPID THING HAS NO GIGABIT Network. That's ridiculous. from Amazon.com I read reviews and checked out laptops/notebooks in stores. I had narrowed it down to this one and Acer which my daughter has and likes. from Amazon.com They want me to ship it back to them for "service". I said, "No -- I did not pay for a refurbished computer. I bought a NEW computer." After reading these dismal reviews on Amazon (for which I am very grateful) I realize that working with HP is a hopeless venture. They have told me that it has been escalated to a manger who will call me back within 48 hours. from Amazon.com I have had nothing but problems getting service for my HP. HP charges $430 for repair from Amazon.com My parents bought this (G60-230us) for me in Feb 2009 when I decided to go back to school. I don't mind carrying a few extra pounds when I do take it somewhere nearly as much as I object to teeny tiny keyboards, and having to deal with a mass of extra peripherals if I happen to want to burn a DVD. from Amazon.com Pros: -Good keyboard size with numeric pad.-Very good dimensions and weight compared to other 16" models.-The case is nice looking with simple and clean aesthetics.-I find this smooth trackpad to be easier to use than many others, but I also really like the button to disable the trackpad.-No speed issues with multiple documents and office programs open.-Power brick is pretty small compared to others I have seen.-Speaker volume and quality is good. I usually use it at about 20%, so I know there is plenty left for when there is lots of ambient noise.-Excellent value at $450. from Newegg.com I had a similar problem with one of the other reviewers here. HP would not service my laptop due to "customer related damage" which it was obviously not. There is a reason they are dead last in all customer service polls. from Amazon.com
