When shopping for PC laptops for a
college student, buying the right one comes down to finding the perfect
combination of features. One of the first features to look for is durability.
College students put a lot of wear and tear on their laptops. Because of this,
you want to find one that will stand up to some abuse. You can search online for
"laptop drop tests" to see which laptops withstand the most damage.
Another thing to consider is size and weight. A college student usually carries his or her laptop around quite a bit. A heavier laptop will take its toll, so you want to shop for a lightweight model. That doesn't mean, however, that you want to buy for the smallest laptop you can find. A student spends a lot of time working on a laptop and a smaller screen means more eye strain. A combination of a larger screen (17" is great) and a light weight (less than 8 pounds) is perfect.
Of course, you'll want to make sure the laptop you buy is fast, powerful and has ample storage. A good rule of thumb is shopping for a minimum of 80GB of drive space and at least 1GB RAM. A processor speed of at least 1.7 GHz is also recommended. Using these guidelines, you can make sure the laptop is powerful enough to handle a college student's needs.
