i recommend this too everyone starting out in getting a tower computer and for kids who dont have one yet since it is a low priced computer but well built not a cheap product .
it is a very good pc to use for all my school work and the kids enjoy playing online games.
what's not so great:?not a big fan of vista "i bought this computer for my kids and works great for them.
thus i purchased the hole unit for my daughter and will upgrade with a better processor and vc from the egg if my daughter needs more for her games.
i tend to keep my computers for a long time and get every dollar i can out of them, canavalize them and then give them to my kids so they can play around and learn.
the computer i feel was designed for young people; for example making videos, recording, and music, etc.
i was looking for a desktop for the kids and me to share, and one that would last for 3+ years.
back to the computer, this computer is perfect or home user or that young college student.
what's great about it:?good price for a quadcore what's not so great:?graphics card "well i had this computer for one month it was used primarily for school work and home use.
we play a lot of casual games such as find-an-item and "diner dash" type games, and the touchscreen works incredibly well with these and the kids love it.
the touchsreen doesn't get used in most circumstances, but it is very nice for our 3 and 5 year old kids to pick their own music, choose videos on youtube, etc.
it is easy for my kids to use, which is one of the main reasons we got it.
i've mainly had problems with some kids' software which will likely force me to buy some new programs for the 3-year old since she can't use her older siblings' hand-me-down software.
purchased for christmas, kids love the touch screen features.
i was hesitate to buy this computer at first due to the price, and the fact that i have 2 young grandkids who loved to use my old hp computer.
cons: - ezos = garbage (ok for old people or young kids) other thoughts: bought several to be mounted on the back of asus 19" monitors ($109 ea!) and run as kiosks at work.
cons: included linux distro is pretty basic...i would recommend keeping the installed os only if giving to kids.
perhaps the default linux os would be good for a grade school where there is only one user and you don't want people to be able to change settings.
years of reliable service and ive heard gateway and acer are the same company.but overall i am pleased with this computer.my kids are thrilled with it since they can play their games much better.
careful when pushing the buttons, i can see them easily breaking if this were used by a child that doesn't take care of things.
speakers seem ok, no problems.hope it keeps working as well as my old gateway gave me so many years of reliable service and ive heard gateway and acer are the same company.but overall i am pleased
the set up was childs play.
is @ great computer for the kidz and family
what's great about it:?the touch screen and the lights on the bottom what's not so great:?the keyboard "having this desktop as a college student is great, its all in one entertaiment, school is
love your daughter
by the way, as far as upgradability, this computer will take you 4 years without needing any major upgrades (i know this is hard for you high school kids with too much money to believe, but its true).
do not delay - buy one today as a spare pc or for your teenage kids...you will not regret it.
my son and i both use it for internet, microsoft apps, music, downloading .
i bought it for my son.
it is basically our kids/family pc so i didn't want to spend too much or get anything more powerful than necessary.
i have two kids in online colleges, and we installed all the software quickly & it runs fine.
this is a nice little system for the kids.
even educational programs (for children up through college) will not be able to run on this pc simply because it just can't handle it.
i bought two of these to use at the school auction checkout.
