We purchased this product to sit in the kitchen principally as an internet station. Purchase date was April 13, 2009. I was looking for an inexpensive and slim computer for work. from Amazon.com My partner absolutely hates computers. I could never get him anywhere near one until the Eee PC Top. The touch interface and sleek design made it approachable for someone new to the idea of "computer as friend." The large, friendly icons on the Top's easy screen are non-threatening and allow him to locate exactly what he wants with ease. from Amazon.com I heard this was a great learning computer, which is why I purchased...to teach somebody to learn a PC. But sadly this machine is so unbelievably SLOW, I had to return it. When I contacted ASUS for help, they never once tried to help on my call, and twice told me they would have a tech call me back, but they never did. It is a slick, nice looking machine and has a really nice compact (mac-looking) keyboard. from Amazon.com I think I'm getting used to working around it now. On the upside, setup was amazingly simple. It took about 1 minute to hook up to my wireless network. It was, by far, the easiest new computer setup I've ever been through. from Amazon.com AlbumPlayer runs like a dream on this thing. Great little jukebox. Cons: A few things: - The screen could be a bit bigger.- If there was a remote and TV tuner (ATSC) it would replace my TV in my family room.- Asus' media software is a bit too clunky to use. from Newegg.com Pros: Interesting form factor; solid feel; bright, evenly lit touch screen; six easily accessible USB ports; solid support bracket; well sized keyboard and mouse that are easily stowed out of the way; similar feel to other EeePC desktops; nifty blue LED lighting effects; ideal for use in the kitchen or mounted on a wall for document reference; "light touch" writing recognition program works well; on screen keyboard works pretty well Cons: Way too many "terminate and stay resident programs" in the system tray from the factory, slowing down the machine right out of the box; no battery; power, brightness, and contrast buttons feel mushy and are hard to tell if they've been pushed; software not as stable as it should be (too many active processes in XP); software not as customizable as it should be in "easy mode interface"; using XP with a touch screen alone is kind of a pain; key height on keyboard is slightly higher than a laptop one but not as high as a desktop model, making it odd to type Other Thoughts: I didn't get this from Newegg, but I wish that I had. As usual, they had a better price now, but I got this a few days before Newegg began stocking it. from Newegg.com great industrial design, nice implementation. On the downside I found the product to be a little buggy in certain areas. The touchscreen keyboard is a little challenging to use, and the Asus interface is not as intuitive as I'd like. If you're willing to use the regular keyboard from time to time it's probably not bad, but I really wanted a full touch screen experience. from Amazon.com
