What's great about it:?Great Price and Simple to Use What's not so great:?A little slow when multitaskin "I have been a loyal customer of Gateway and trust me this computer is better and alot faster than the first one i had. When it comes to value and ease of use this computer will do you justice. from Bestbuy.com its kind of cool to see tasks that usually render my machine basically useless justbarely max out at 20% cpu useage... like photoshop work or video conversion, etc. I was going to get the dx model that best buy has for 700 but figured that tv tuner was something I didnt need (but thefront drive bay was nice) and so far, am fine with my decision. I think this machine (my 3rd gateway in the past 10 years) should serve me well for a while. from Bestbuy.com Then when I power it worn manually it is always in safe mode. Horrible!!! Gateway online support is does not know what to do with it... So im taking it back to best buy. from Bestbuy.com But, out of the box, it gets it done. Unless you are doing hardcore graphics-intensive gaming, you really don't need anything above this computer. Also a plus is Gateway's completely free Windows 7 upgrade plan. I put my serial number in the night I purchased, and it will (hopefully) be coming soon after launch! from Amazon.com I have no complaints at all at this time. Mine came with a 9150e processor not a 9750 as some reviews state and you should check the reviews on other sites as well, There almost all as praising as this one. I may do some minor tweaking with a graphics card some memory and a psu at a later date but this unit is Grrt right outta the box Thanks Gateway,Amazon and J&R music. from Amazon.com Comes with 4 g memory and with Vista 64 bit you can use all of the memory up to a max of 8gb (this computer's limitation; with 32 bit Windows can only use around 3 gb no matter how much memory is installed). Price just dropped..... I don't know if all the DX4200-9's are now including the 9750 AMD - sounds like they are closing this line out so "get 'em while the're hot". from Amazon.com Everything else included is trialware. The machine included 4GB main memory, 640GB HD, built-in graphics ( but did include VGA and HDMI interfaces), a keyboard, mouse, pair of speakers ( not real good ), network card, DVD. Gateway website and support seems to be heading down hill since purchased by Acer. The bug fix program which was on my computer was removed after installation because the program was no longer supported. from Amazon.com Seems fast and efficient for office use which is what I bought it for. Cons: My first unit died within 24 hours. Gateway was a pain to work with, but Newegg replaced in a fair amount of time. That unit had a video issue probably could have been fixed with a video card. from Newegg.com Bottom Line: The DX4200-09 is an excellent computer for the price. I have 3 computers in use in our family of varying makes and ages. from Amazon.com It runs slow as molasses in performing the simplest tasks. As a photographer, much of my time is spent editing photos. I downloaded the same editing software I had used on my 5 year old computer with ease; on the Gateway it runs so slowly that it's unusable.
