I experienced image and video display issues immediately. The computer locks up when trying to convert home movies. Awful customer support by Gateway. The customer support tech located overseas felt that I had a codec issue. from Newegg.com It would not boot into Windows and when it did, it would crash to a blank screen. The system logs were various in failures so I could not tell what was the problem, exactly. At this time contacted Gateway Support about this issue, hoping it wasn't the motherboard. Since I had a bevvy of parts around, I started to test each component. from Newegg.com Cons: Item is Defective:The power started shutting off after using it for just under 2 weeks. Last night, Friday, it decided to not work at all anymore due to some type of power issue. Gateway technical support was ridiculous, hardly spoke English, and took 3 phone calls and over 2 hours to diagnose that my new system has no power. Upon diagnosis, they wanted me to pay for it to be sent into Gateway, even though I've only had it for 2 weeks, as of today. from Newegg.com I got this computer less than 2 months ago. Gateway has issues with this computer in that you are unable to create your back up discs. (They are NOT included with the computer!) Gateway customer service is in India and if you do manage to get through, you can barely understand them. from Amazon.com I'm 68 have owned many computers, I've built 2, By far this is the best computer I've ever owned from Amazon.com Pros: Best deal I could find with all these goodies. And upon receiving, everything worked perfect. from Newegg.com Pros: Everything stated that everyone else said, its nice, fast, and well made, mostly :P Cons: So here is my problem. I get the computer, i set it up, and i install some montiring programs, Speedfan, Realtemp, and PC wizard 2009. They all tell me that the CORE TEMP is IDLING @ 94-96 Degreees Celsius!!!! from Newegg.com Pros: Excellent machine fast large power supply plenty of memory and a good size hard drive, love the ability to add extra hard drive right from the front and the back up button on front makes it convenient highly recommended. Cons: the front USB are hidden need to open from top or front. from Newegg.com Ran absolutely great for about three weeks, and then slowly descended into a huge crash over the next week. Due to high-pitched sounds being emitted and the way in which it crashed it is certainly a hardware issue. It isn't unheard of to have to send back a computer because of hardware issues, and I would simply have accepted it as being one of the unlucky who have to deal with a temporary problem BUT customer service at Gateway is ridiculous. They had me format my C drive and reload everything, and it crashed again in less than a day. from Newegg.com Cons: Difficult to expand to SLI while keeping the sound card I decided to put into it. Also, See Below. Other Thoughts: When I bought this computer, there was an offer from Gateway to get a free Windows 7 upgrade. The day it arrived, I attempted to go through the process of signing up for this upgrade, only to find out my Serial Number had already been used to order an upgrade. from Newegg.com
