this computer isn't built for hardcore pc gamers and since i'm not much of a pc gamer, it didn't really matter to me.
anyone that thinks they can play games on it just does not know what they are talking about.
this is not made to run high requirement games or applications, if you just use this for browsing and some ms office applications, it does the job perfectly.
i needed a new second computer whose needs were basic: word processing, internet access and some occasional movies and music and it also had to run as a 32 bit system so that my older programs would
it mainly for ms office, music, e-mail, online shopping
this review refers to the hp pavilion slimline s3720f desktop pc (2.5 ghz intel pentium dual-core desktop e5200 processor, 4 gb ram, 500 gb hard drive, dvd drive, vista premium).
the mouse is a bit stiff, but it operates mouse-intensive games fine.
hp will replace defective computers under warranty without playing any games.
dvd burner, internal web cam, 22in screen, wireless network card, wireless keyboard, and a sandisk slot and 4gb memory and 500gb hard drive.
everything is crystal-clear.and,since the screen is glass, you can clean it using a soft cloth which has been sprayed with a mild window cleaning product.my online games, such as wow and guild wars are
the graphics on this unit are exceptional, and it's got photo and media programs that make editing easy and enjoyable.
excellent graphics, essential for gamers.
and the speaker system is very good.the touch system is so cool.everything you need is literally at your fingertips.i am a hard-core gamer,photographer,dvd-burning cd burning and music downloader.
the picture is as clear as a 1080p television.
it completely screams when asked to do anything multimedia related, and cruises on native ms programs like office 2007 as well.
and is looking forward to sims3, as well as other games.
this computer plays halo, crysis, world of warcraft, and any flight simulator version smoothly.
i've streamed video from hulu and the tv stations to my hdtv across the room with a 25 foot dvi to hdmi cable.
she does all the typical stuff like surfing, office, music and movies...
vista recognized my creative mp3 player and my blackberry as soon as i plugged them in.

i bought this computer because my other computer was ancient and i couldn't edit a movie without crashing.
it has picture in picture so that you can be on the computer and watch tv on the same screen.
tv tuner which you can watch tv and surf the web without turning around, just a glance back and forth.
the tv tuner is....well if there was a word that meant convenient but has more of a spectacular connotation, i would use that word here.
this has everything you need, blu-ray player, tv tuner with pip.
the only real gripe so far is that you cannot use it as a monitor for video games.
whether i'm using it as a regular desktop computer, touchsmart, or flat-screen tv, this computer is simply amazing!
we play a lot of casual games such as find-an-item and "diner dash" type games, and the touchscreen works incredibly well with these and the kids love it.
i have to say, that i used to build my own computers for gaming, but have since moved on to a game console and i wanted a non-cluttering cool pc.
also, it is very fast and with games infull screen on the 22" screen is pretty cool!
you play windows media center and most of the time, it hangs
if you are looking for a fast, great performing machine with blu ray, tv tuner, and other extras, then you owe it to yourself and look into this pc.
my sony vaio desktop that once was cutting edge two years ago,is now not able to keep up with many of todays demands.
i was primarily interested in a media center pc configuration that offers the flexibility to go wireless.
it takes about a minute to download with the hp, and i listen to music and/or check emails with no detectable slow down in the system.
bad: when i close the dvd drive after havig it open, it hangs on the cover, so you have to move the cover out of the way to close the drive.
since this uses the nforce chipset for both the sata dvd writer and sata hard drives, you may have some issues reinstalling vista or other os's on it; but with the proper drivers from nvidia, it
it is a major upgrade from a 8 year old emachine that just could not handle any games that a 9 year old would like.
we use it to backup our other computers and to stream media to our ps3.
there is a lot of bloatware that comes pre-installed (ms office 2007 trial, norton anti-virus trial, various games trial, etc) and i recommend you remove these trials and install your own programs.
(i know maybe three or four non-gamers using more than 200gb of hdd space.)
i felt this machine offers a lot of value for a non-gamer in a nice compact size.
good enough hardward for browsing, casual gaming ( such as yahoo games) and light application use.
he spends most of his time watching foreign tv stations and listening to foreign radio stations on the internet.
i bought one as a media server for my ps3.
you don't always need eight threads, so if you're running a game it can shut down some of those cores and up your clock speed.
blueray and dvd writer
still, now if you want to watch a hi-def movie on your computer, you can.
i'm also going to do a bit of complaining about media center but that another review.
